MIST Electrostimulator

The MIST Electrical Muscle Stimulator is a small portable wearable device that is used to perform restorative treatment of damaged and weakened muscles through electrophysiotherapy, as well as device-based pain relief using the transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation (TENS) method to relieve pain intensity and chronic pain syndromes in myalgia, myositis, joint diseases, complications of osteochondrosis, neuralgia and neuropathy.

Description

Electrical stimulation (EMS) is a method of rehabilitation treatment based on electrical stimulation of muscles and nerves, carried out by transmitting current with specified characteristics from a myostimulator to the human body through electrodes.

The idea of the method is that when an electric current of a certain shape and frequency is applied to the motor points of the desired muscle:

  • a contractile response is achieved;
  • the conductivity of the electrical pulse along the nerve that activates this muscle improves;
  • metabolic processes responsible for maintaining muscle function and nutrition are enhanced;
  • the regulation of the function performed by the muscle at the level of the cerebral cortex is improved;
  • regeneration (restoration) of the affected nerve accelerates;
  • blood flow and lymph flow in this muscle improves.

Based on these possibilities of electrical stimulation, using the MIST Electrical Muscle Stimulator, it is possible to successfully rehabilitate a muscle, improve its strength, coordination, "obedience" in case of various disorders of the nerve, muscle or areas of the brain (strokes, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, etc.) responsible for this muscle.

In extremely severe cases, when nerve conduction is completely impaired, as well as in cases of hypodynamia in bedridden patients, the device will help to maintain metabolic processes in the muscle, preventing its atrophy and "weight loss".

Additionally, the device enables to prepare a relatively healthy muscle for physical exercise or exercise therapy.

System capabilities

The MIST Electrical Muscle Stimulator has seven programmed modes of electrical stimulation.

The only parameter that the user can change is the current strength. It is selected individually and can be increased or decreased depending on the user’s subjective feelings.

Program 1. Relaxation-stimulation. Intended to relax spastic muscles, as well as to conduct test stimulation to assess the preservation of neuromuscular excitability of the affected muscles.

Program 2. Synapse stimulation. Used to activate the synaptic apparatus of affected neuromuscular structures with pronounced symptoms of muscle fatigue – the consequences of neuritis and polyneuritis, the recovery period after injuries to peripheral nerve trunks, functional overload of the spinal muscles in case of posture disorders and vertebrogenic diseases.

Program 3. Dynamic modulation. Used as a program that potentiates preliminary action in cases of muscle resistance to therapeutic effects (conducting long-term rehabilitation activities, frequent electrotherapy using other methods).

Program 4. Toning.Used to stimulate dystrophic muscles in flaccid paresis and weakened paretic antagonist muscles in central paresis of the limbs.

Program 5. Suprafrequency stimulation. Used to reduce spasticity of large and functionally shortened muscles in cases of postural disorders and scoliosis. It is advisable to carry out this stimulation immediately before exercise therapy sessions.

Program 6. Deep stimulation. Used to stimulate deep muscles and large muscles of the limbs in cases of severe dystrophy and severe paresis.

Program 7. Electroanalgesia. Hardware anesthesia program using transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation (TENS) method to relieve pain intensity and chronic pain syndromes in myalgia, myositis, joint diseases, complications of osteochondrosis, neuralgia and neuropathy.
